Lasix being a strong diuretic is used in connection with some other blood pressure pills for the therapy of high blood pressure. Furosemide is largely used in the treatment of unnecessary fluid buildup along with swelling of the body which is mainly caused by heart failure, kidney failure, cirrhosis or chronic, and even nephrotic syndrome.



Usage

Follow the dosage directions given by your doctor. Read the label on the package for detailed information. Please drink a full glass of normal water with Lasix. Intake the dosage in the daytime to avoid the difficulty of nighttime urination. It is very essential that you finish the dosage schedule and do not obstruct it in between without asking your doctor as it might affect some dangerous problems. Taking your medication at the same time each day is a tried and tested method to avoid missing any doses and for the best effectiveness.



Drug Class and Mechanism

Lasix being a potent water pill largely works by building a block in the retention of the salt as well as the fluid in the kidney tubules. This may lead to an increase in the urine output and may also lead to body water and also electrolyte deficiency in the body. Thus, proper medical care is recommended while you are taking the dosage.



Missed Dose

Strictly follow the dosage without missing any. In case if you missed any keep in mind that you will have to adjust your next dose by spacing it out by 4 to 5 hours. If this is not achievable, then the best thing to do would be to skip the missed dose and proceed with your normal dosage schedule. Never try to requite for the missed dose by having a double dose together. It may cause extreme side effects.



Storage

Keep Lasix at room temperature. Always keep it in a cool dark place that is not directly exhibited to sources of heat or moisture and sunlight. Preserve it away from kids and pets.
