Captopril is an ACE inhibitor and works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, and kidney problems caused by diabetes.

Captopril is usually taken 1 hour before meals. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides.
