Drug Uses

Fosamax is very useful in healing osteoporosis in women post-menopause and it increases the bone mass and thereby limits fractures.



Usage

Instructions to consume the medicine will be given by your doctor, follow that strictly. If you are uncertain or do not remember the directions then you may read the label on the packet for more detailed information.

Fosamax is advised to intake in the morning with an empty stomach. Please drink a whole glass of water with Fosamax and never have it with any dairy product. Complete the course of the medication without interrupting in between.



Drug Class and Mechanism

Fosamax is a bisphosphonate drug and it works by building bone mass and thereby prevents fractures.



Missed Dose

Missing a dose is not a favorable matter when it comes to the effectiveness of the medicine. Try to make up the missed dose as soon as you memorize it. Keep in mind to give at least 4 to 5 hours of time in between each dosage. Never take two doses at a time.



Storage

Fosamax should be stored at room temperature without exposing it to light, heat, and moisture. Keep the medicine safely away from children and pets.



Overdose

Fosamax overdose may be harmful to you. If you notice consequences like hypophosphatemia, hypocalcemia, or gastrointestinal disturbance. Reach the nearest hospital ASAP. 
Warning/Precautions 
You cannot take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredients in Fosamax or if you have conditions like narrow esophagus, esophageal ulcers, etc or you are unable to stand or sit upright for a 30 minutes minimum.

Inform all your medical history as well as information about all the medicines you take before starting the treatment with Fosamax. Fosamax comes under the FDA Category C. Pregnant women, women planning to become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should notify the doctor before taking the medicine.
