Drug Uses

Aciclovir is effective in easing chickenpox (varicella) or shingles (herpes zoster) and it is useful in the treatment or suppressing genital herpes infections and it serves by stopping viral replication. Aciclovir does not eradicate the virus but it helps to limit further infection.



Usage

The doctor's instructions are the best to follow during any medication. Read the label for extra information. You may choose to intake Aciclovir after food to avoid gastric issues. Please consume a full glass of water with Aciclovir. It is very essential that you complete the dosage schedule and do not discontinue it in between without asking prior consultation from your doctor. 



Drug Class and Mechanism

Aciclovir falls under antiviral and it acts by stopping viral replication. Aciclovir does not kill the virus but it helps to stop further inflammation.



Missed Dose

A missed dose of medicine should be taken soon before the time frame for it finishes. 4 to 5 hours should be allotted to between two doses. Never take a dose with another dose to compensate for the missed one.



Storage

Room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F(20 and 25 degrees C) is best for Storing Aciclovir. Always keep it in a cool dark place that is not instantly revealed to sources of heat or moisture and sunlight. Keep it away from kids and pets as it is very dangerous if they consume it accidentally.
