Minocycline is used to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, skin infections, severe acne, tick fever, and rheumatoid arthritis. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This medication is best taken on an empty stomach. Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually every 12 hours, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal with a full glass of water. The dosage and length of treatment are based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, lightheadedness, dizziness, or a feeling of spinning may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
